More Skeletor
I just realized that I hadn't posted this on my blog yet because I finished it during Girl-oween. But since Skeletor is the current 'theme,' well here ya go.

Skelvin & Hobbor
Post-It Sketch :: Panthor's new helmet
Mattel is making an MOTUC Panthor next year, and unlike his original toy counterpart, he comes with a horned helmet. I imagine Panthor would react like any other cat when you put something on it's head. That is, with plans to murder you in your sleep later that night.
That thought led to this post-it sketch.
Panthor, in case you don't know, is Skeletor's large purple cat/steed. I have a particular fondness for Panthor because I owned the toy as a kid, and did not own his He-Man analogue Battle Cat. So Panthor was and still is my fave.

Hell is for Children
This is it, kids. The moment you've all been waiting for.
October 31st.
Halloween.
And most importantly - Countdown to Girl-oween Day 31!
First off I want to thank everyone who visited my art blog during this monstrously monumental of holiday seasons. I want to especially thank everyone who took the time to post a comment. I tried to avoid responding too much myself during 'Girl-oween,' letting my art do all the talking. But know that all your comments are greatly appreciated and helped keep me going through the month. It wasn't always easy, but amazingly I did not miss a single day of posting!
That's 31 spooky, scary, demonic, freaky, monstrous girls, with a couple sweet cuties thrown in for good measure. Kind of like my love life.
And I saved the best for last. Hopefully also like my love life haha.
Here she is folks - the first lady of all horror herself, Regan MacNeil from the novel and film The Exorcist.
This movie and book both freaked me out plenty. I admit, even drawing this damn thing got me feeling a little uneasy.
This image is from a scene that was originally cut from the theatrical release, wherein Regan crawls backwards and upside-down down the stairs and into the living room where her mom is having a cocktail party. The scene does appear in the original novel, and has been added to the 'extras' on recent DVD releases I do believe.
Creepy stuff, and well deserving of the honorary position of Halloween Day's Girl-oween Post, if I do say so myself.
Thanks again to everyone who helped make Halloween 2010 such a fun event, I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
Be sure to check out all the other Countdown to Halloween blogging participants when you get the chance. There are a lot of them!
Stay scary.

My Love is Bigger Than a Cadillac
The second to last Girl-oween post for Halloween Countdown 2010 is none other than the demonically possessed '58 Plymouth Fury herself, the infamous Christine.
Christine has the unique distinction of not only being Girl-oween Day 30, but she also fits into my 'Super-Cars' series as Super-Car #12.
In addition, Christine made an appearance here on 'Art by Bubba Shelby' during Halloween Countdown 2008!
She's one popular girl.
But not quite popular enough to be my Halloween Day post.
So who is Girl-oween Day 31?
Stay tuned...

I ain't afraid of no ghost!
I've been bouncing different ghost themed ideas around for a Girl-oween post, but have yet to come up with anything I really like. (Now that I've said that I'll probably have fifty good ghost themed ideas today alone.)
I was looking at some old art files and came across this piece I did years ago. I've always loved it and it seemed appropriate (a ghost and a girl, if that isn't Girl-oween I don't know what is,) so let's just consider today's post a sort of video game cheat, shall we.
Up up, down down, left right, left right, B A start.

Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right
I took my daughter to the Boardwalk today. Have you ever noticed that the people hired to paint clowns on carnival rides paint the most frightening things imaginable? Do they do this on purpose?
So to purge my mind and hopefully deter any nightmares of freakish carnival clowns, I drew this cute clownette for Girl-oween Day 23.
Funny girls like Halloween too!

Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
When I was a kid I heard about a movie called 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' and thought it was an awesome fifties-era noirish thriller about some sleek sexy seductress killing off wealthy old men while they slept. I imagined it'd be one of those kitschy over-dramatic black and white flicks you caught on Saturday afternoons on your local UHF station, playing right after the weekly Vincent Price and Godzilla movies.
Then someone told me what the movie was really about. Turns out it has absolutely nothing to do with a sleek sexy seductress killing wealthy old men while they slept. Nothing at all.
I still feel robbed to this day.
