Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me

When I was a kid I heard about a movie called 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' and thought it was an awesome fifties-era noirish thriller about some sleek sexy seductress killing off wealthy old men while they slept. I imagined it'd be one of those kitschy over-dramatic black and white flicks you caught on Saturday afternoons on your local UHF station, playing right after the weekly Vincent Price and Godzilla movies.

Then someone told me what the movie was really about. Turns out it has absolutely nothing to do with a sleek sexy seductress killing wealthy old men while they slept. Nothing at all.

I still feel robbed to this day.

It's a Nice Day for a White Wedding

Halloween wouldn't be Halloween (and Girl-oween wouldn't be Girl-oween) without an appearance from the first lady of fright herself!

Ooooh ooooh, Witchy Woman

My mom has always loved Halloween and is the reason I love the holiday so much today. One year when I was maybe four or five Mom dressed as a witch and looked so real that I wouldn't trick or treat with her and my sister that night.

She wasn't particularly 'scary' looking, I think I could have handled the more outlandish 'Witch' type costume with a big fake nose and a wart and blacked out teeth. What concerned me was the realism of her get-up. Subtle make-up and coloring to make her skin look otherworldy and a simple robe, hat and broom. The transformation of my Mom into a witch was wholly convincing to my young mind and scared the hell out of me.

Anyways, that story has nothing to do with today's illustration. Unless there's something Freudian going on here. Now that's scary!

Love Cuts Like a Knife

Hockey fan at a tailgate BBQ, or mass murdering psychopath? Either way, she's still likely to cut your heart out. At least metaphorically.

I Got a Girl Named Bony Moronie...

I had fun designing this one...the addition of the heart is inspired and ups the 'cute-ometer' to 11.

One Less Undead Girl

Although yesterday's 'Dr. Ms. Frankenstein' inspired the 'Girl-oween' theme this year, it is actually an illustration I originally drew about five or six years ago that I found while perusing old art files.

I started drawing new stuff once the theme clicked in my head. (These have been some very interesting coffee shop sketch sessions indeed.)

The first sketch I came up with once I began creating new art for Countdown to Halloween 2010 is this Teen Zombie.

What turned her into a zombie?

Bieber fever.

Countdown to Girl-oween 2010 :: Day 1

Countdown to Halloween Girl-oween 2010 has begun!

My theme this year as I present to you a Halloween inspired sketch, doodle or illustration every day through October 31st is GIRLS!

Why did I pick 'girls' for my theme this year?

Because I CAN!

First up, a distracted Dr. Ms. Frankenstein and her...distracted... assistant Igor.

Oh that Igor. He's gonna get such a SLAP!
