Woodchuck Chuck meets Flimsy

I recently began following Illustrator Rachael Smith on Twitter. Just the other day I discovered her blog Flimsy the Kitten and immediately fell in love with it. Not only is Flimsy a cute kitten, (and let's face it, even my cold heart can be melted by a drawing of a cute kitten,) but Rachael's sharp and quirky sense of humor is an absolute blast, and perfectly suited for the deceptively simple illustrations.

As I read through the blog, I began to wonder if Flimsy had ever become a super hero (because that's the type of thoughts I have.) Well it turns out she had, donning mask and cape and dubbing herself Super Flimsy.

Seeing the Super Flimsy cartoons inspired me to do a little fan art and team her up with Woodchuck Chuck. So without further ado, here it is:

In honor of the next huge world shattering comic book crossover event, simply known as Battle for the Cowl, Woodchuck Chuck has offered up his services, should the regular Gotham City vigilantes be unable to carry the weight of the loss of their hero Batman.

Or in the unlikely event that the battle with Gotham City's seedy underbelly should bleed into the redwood forest.

In keeping with Woodchuck mythology, Woodchuck Chuck is often assisted by an impish forest spirit named Phil, who manifests in the form of Woodchuck Chuck's shadow.

A James Bond marathon is airing today on cable, so I was inspired to cast my character Woodchuck Chuck as James Bond.

Artist Trading Cards

I recently heard about Artist Trading Cards: You get these little 2.5" x 3.5" cards for all different media (illustration, watercolors, acrylics etc) and you create art. Then you trade. kind of like baseball cards, only not lame.

So I bought some, and I owe a couple to fellow artist Wynn Ryder. Whatever he doesn't claim is up for trade, so if there are any artists out there who want to jump in on the trading fun just drop a message! If you aren't an artist and don't have any cards to trade, I also accept toys ;)

I Am Iron Chuck!

I saw Iron Man yesterday and was thoroughly impressed. I was inspired to draw something, and thought I'd do a little homage.
